Privacy Policy

PDF Studio — Read, Edit, Fill & Convert · Effective July 19, 2026

🔒 The short version: PDF Studio collects no data at all. Your PDFs are processed entirely on your device, nothing is ever uploaded, and there are no accounts, no analytics and no trackers.

1. Who we are

PDF Studio ("the extension") is a browser extension for Google Chrome that lets you read, annotate, sign, fill and convert PDF documents. This policy explains what information the extension does — and, more importantly, does not — handle.

2. What data we collect

None. The extension does not collect, transmit, store remotely, sell or share any personal information or document content. Specifically, we do not collect:

Your documents or their contents — all PDF processing (rendering, editing, form filling, converting) happens locally in your browser using open-source libraries bundled with the extension (Mozilla’s pdf.js and pdf-lib)
Personal details such as your name, email address or identifiers
Browsing history, usage analytics, telemetry or crash reports
Cookies or advertising data

The extension has no server. There is nowhere for your data to be sent.

3. What is stored on your device

The extension stores exactly one preference locally in your browser: your chosen light/dark theme. It never leaves your device, and uninstalling the extension removes it. Documents you edit are saved only where you choose to save them, through your browser’s normal download mechanism.

4. Why the extension requests its permissions

Permission	Why it is needed
`Access to websites` (host permissions)	Only used to download a PDF file into the editor when you open a PDF link (for example via right-click → "Open link in PDF Studio"). The file is fetched directly by your browser from that website — never through any intermediary server — and is processed locally.
`contextMenus`	Adds the "Open link in PDF Studio" right-click menu item for PDF links.
`tabs`	Lets the popup detect whether the current tab is showing a PDF so it can offer to open it in the editor. Tab information is read at that moment only and never recorded.
`storage`	Saves your theme preference on your device.

5. Third-party services

The extension uses no third-party services, analytics providers, advertising networks or remote APIs. The open-source libraries it relies on (pdf.js, pdf-lib) are bundled inside the extension and run entirely offline.

6. Children’s privacy

Because the extension collects no data from anyone, it collects no data from children.

7. Changes to this policy

If a future version of the extension ever changes how data is handled, this policy will be updated and the "Effective" date above revised before that version is released. Material changes will be noted in the extension’s store listing changelog.
